Ms. Villanueva has been working in the field of psychology since 2011, most of which have been at JNG Health Network. Through the years she has touched the lives of children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Ms. Villanueva continues to provide individual, group, and family therapy to individuals in Dade and Broward counties.
Ms. Villanueva previously worked with families of children and individuals with developmental and other severe disabilities through a nonprofit organization. She provided advocacy within the community and school system, care coordination services and psychoeducational groups. Individuals with special needs continue to be an area of treatment focus.
Ms. Villanueva provided trauma-focused therapy to children (ages 3-18) to address trauma impacts, including affective disorders such as depression and anxiety, and cognitive and behavioral problems. She assisted parents and caregivers with managing their personal distress about their child’s traumatic experiences. The parents are aided in applying effective parenting skills, and with enhancing their overall interactions with the child.
Ms. Villanueva has been a volunteer appointed by Miami-Dade County Courts to protect the rights and advocate in the best interests of children who have been abused, neglected, and in the criminal system. This aligns with her expertise in working with children, parents, and families from the Family Court system
In addition to psychotherapy, Ms. Villanueva has over 10 years of experience conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations to include disability assessment, neuro-psychological batteries, and forensic evaluations.
Ms. Villanueva is of Panamanian ancestry and on her spare time she is enjoying every intricate moment of parenting, learning new therapeutic techniques, music, and gaming.
