Valerie Urbina, Psy.D.
Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellow
Dr. Urbina has been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. Her clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults presenting with a variety of psychological, cognitive, behavioral, and medical concerns. Her previous clinical experiences include inpatient psychiatric settings, community mental health, medical and rehabilitation settings, substance use treatment, crisis stabilization, and cognitive rehabilitation. Dr. Urbina has worked in the capacity of therapist, psychometrician, and post-doctoral psychological assistant.
Dr. Urbina took pride and teaching, training, and supervising interns and practicum student clinicians. She has participated in clinical seminars, didactics, case conferences, and grand rounds.
Dr. Urbina is also very experienced in providing individual and family therapy, reunification therapy, and other Family Court referred services. She has worked with individuals experiencing trauma, substance use, chronic pain, head injuries, psychiatric disorders, cognitive difficulties, and other complex clinical concerns. Dr. Urbina has experience working within multidisciplinary teams and enjoys working with the multicultural melting pot of the South Florida Community.
Dr. Urbina’s current interests are to continue providing psychotherapeutic services while fine tuning her expertise in conducting psychological and neuropsychological evaluations, disability evaluations, cognitive assessment, and the evaluation of emotional, behavioral, and cognitive functioning.
On a more personal note, Dr. Urbina is born of Peruvian and Colombian parents. On her spare time, she enjoys watching Anime, traveling to new places, learning different languages, and engaging in anything having to do with creativity and wellness.
